The Treaty Of Waitangi
The treaty of Waitangi is a founding Document that was signed February 6th 1840 it was signed so that the british and Maori people could have peace between each other
Missionaries from England and France had come after a few years because they were doing trading ships. Most New Zealanders Understand that the government and the Maori are the treaty partners. Both combined the treaty is respected.
Waitangi day was established as a national holiday in 1994 which constantly reminds us of Signing the treaty.
What was the main purpose of Waitangi day? Well to enable the British settlers to live together in NZ and settle into the laws and agreements as one.
